FAQs: Chemicals

How often do I need to add chemicals to my hot tub?

We recommend testing your hot tub water at least twice a week using test strips and adjusting chemical levels as needed. Always balance total alkalinity first, then pH, then sanitiser. How often you need to top up chemicals will depend on how frequently the spa is used and how many people are using it.

What pH level should my hot tub water be?

The ideal pH range for hot tub water is between 7.2 and 7.6. Below 7.2 the water becomes too acidic, which can cause eye and skin irritation and damage spa components. Above 7.6 the water becomes too alkaline, leading to cloudy water and reduced effectiveness of your sanitiser. Use pH Up or pH Down to adjust accordingly.

How often should I change my hot tub water?

Hot tub water should be completely drained and refilled every 3 to 4 months, depending on how frequently the spa is used. Over time water accumulates dissolved solids and contaminants that chemicals alone cannot remove. Each time you refill, use a spa flush product to clean the plumbing before draining for the best results.
